The Charlie Fogarty Foundation Story
In 2012, Charlie Fogarty MBE suffered a severe brain injury after he was hit by an overtaking car while crossing the road. What followed over the years was a journey that no individual or family would ever wish to endure, resulting in life-changing injuries—physically, mentally, and emotionally. Nevertheless, from this tragedy emerged a remarkably courageous and determined young man who believes that ‘anything is possible.’
For the last nine years, Charlie has been supported by his loving family and has transformed the challenges brought on by his brain injury into a source of education and motivation. The Charlie Fogarty Foundation was established to honor the journey of a talented young sportsman whose life was altered by a tragic accident. This charity for sports harnesses the power of sport and physical activity to provide essential support to those in need. Within this plan, the Trustees of the Foundation outline their intentions to empower individuals as a means of overcoming adversity.
Despite everything that has happened to Charlie, he was still able to make three World Cups playing for England! He competed in England, Argentina and Spain and has two European Championships to his name! Charlie now plays his football for Alvechurch FC Foundation in the Disability League and what a player he is!
